Anyone else having trouble with the code generator? I've opened it in both Firefox & IE, and in each case the "add code" button is grayed out, not letting me select/click on it. I guess I'll just have to try again later!

Thanks,

Janette

Janette -

I had this problem last year. If you hit the enter key after all the info is added, it should pop up for you. :-)

There are new or updated plain vanilla CD case insert(s) for:

A Fair Barbarian, http://librivox.org/fair-barbarian-a-by-frances-hodgson-burnett/

I Will Repay, http://librivox.org/i-will-repay-by-baroness-orczy/

The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes (Version 2), http://librivox.org/the-adventures-of-sherlock-holmes-by-sir-arthur-conan-doyle/

The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes (Version 3), http://librivox.org/the-adventures-of-sherlock-holmes-by-sir-arthur-conan-doyle-2/

(Note: LibriVox has three versions of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes". The catalog search, https://catalog.librivox.org/search.php?title=the+adventures+of+sherlock+holmes&author=&status=all&action=Search , mentions the version information, but each catalog pages doesn't. When an admin has a free moment, and the urge, they might wish to consider adding the version to the catalog pages. Just a suggestion. R.)

The Time Machine (Version 2), http://librivox.org/the-time-machine-version-2-by-h-g-wells/

(Similarly to above, for the three versions of "The Time Machine". The catalog search https://catalog.librivox.org/search.php?title=the+time+machine&author=&status=all&action=Search shows versions, but each catalog page doesn't. R.)

War In The Air, http://librivox.org/war-in-the-air-the-by-h-g-wells/

at the Volume 2 URL:

http://www.archive.org/details/LibrivoxPlainVanillaCdCaseInsertsVolume2

FYI:

The Time Machine (Version 1), http://librivox.org/the-time-machine-by-hg-wells/
The Time Machine (Version 3), http://librivox.org/the-time-machine-by-h-g-wells/ in Volume 2 was updated.

Many thanks to Maria for the hint on how to get the code generator to work!

October 2007 is now complete!

Thanks so much,

All added. Thank you, Ric, Janette and Tricia. :D

Ric,
thanks for pointing out the inconsistency with the version numbers. We will look into this.

Janette,
there is a problem with the cover for "The Middle of Things". It shows the picture for "The Paradise Mystery" in the jpgs and pdf. I deleted the files but left the code in place. When you use the same file name (Middle_Things_1110) it will only need to be re-uploaded.
The file name for the Russian project worked perfect. The file name should refer to the book somehow, so the listeners can identify the files. Nothing else needed.

I'd like a little advice on public domain artwork. I recently discovered wikipaintings.org, and have really enjoyed using this site (in addition to my other favorites). However, I have noticed that on some artwork produced before 1923 they have a disclaimer that "This artwork may be protected by copyright. It is posted on the site in accordance with fair use principles." This is where I'm getting confused. For example, this abstract picture http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/wassily-kandinsky/first-abstract-watercolor-1910 was created in 1910, but has the above non-PD disclaimer. Can anyone explain? Right now, if I'm not sure it's PD, I'm not using it, but I'd like the freedom to use anything pre-1923 if that's legal.

Thanks so much,

Janette

For this example the painter died in 1944. This means that his work is still under copyright in countries that use the death+70 rule. But in the USA this image is PD now, so you can use it if you want.

Seems those people are not so well informed. I found this on their side:
We use here Copyright term based on authors' deaths according to U.S. Copyright Law, that is 70 years.
http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/About

Which is correct, but only for pictures/texts published after 1978. There can't be that many pictures pd according to that rule. Most things are pd because of the pre 1923 rule. Don't trust them. Always check the year.

Hm, that brings me to a horrible question. How do we know, when a picture is published?
For many pictures we do know the year it was painted (or taken, if it is a photo), but does that count as published?
We need to look into that.
