Hi there, may I poke my nose into this one again?

I have noticed that on the archive pages of the m4b'ed books you put in a link to the m4b wiki page. I was wondering if it wouldn't be better to put in a link to the catalog page instead, to promote the whole package with cd covers , reader info, online text...

This is what we usually put on the new archive pages:
For further information, including links to online text, reader information, RSS feeds, CD cover or other languages or formats (if available), please go to the LibriVox catalog page for this recording.
Of course I don't know how much hassle this is, but I figure as you're adding the link to the catalog page also...?
Cheers, Ava.

The main reason I chose to put the link on the Archive page was to enable anyone searching Archive for M4B books to find them. Not Librivox people - people who want to find M4B files, so I would sooner leave it the way it is.
The Archive pages have links to LibriVox ,
the pages we upload the files to have links to LibriVox,
the Wiki catalogue has links to LibriVox .
Each entry in the Wiki Catalogue has a link to LibriVox.

And we are getting lots of downloads - now whether they get there from a M4B search , the Archive pages , the Librivox catalogue or the thread who knows.
I do know that people do search Archive for M4B books because the early ones uploaded to archive were not put as tests , so are still there - and they are being downloaded regularly according to the counter - and each count is either 1 whole book or for big books half one

Any questions :D

Oh I see - I did not know the m4b's were searchable through the individual book pages on archive. That makes sense.

However, while this
annise wrote: The Archive pages have links to LibriVox ,
is true, the vast majority of those links only go to the librivox homepage and not to the catalog page of the book in question.

Just being nitpicky here :D

Yes - but the M4B link goes to the wiki page which then will link to the Librivox catalogue if they want.
Every M4B Wiki entry has a link to the catalogue page as well as download links.
So I argue we are giving more Librivox advertising than the other way round :D

added to page 2. I'll finish them up tomorrow :D

To get back to the discussion about the link to the catalogue page, we have had a discussion about this lately between admins, maybe if I remember I will add the link to the catalogue page in the description if it is not already there, but of course still keep the link to the M4B wiki, which actually is also a way to force the users to browse through the whole list of available M4Bs and in this way might be good to make them realise we have plenty of recordings :D

Having the links all go to the one spot also means that if the numbers increase and we need to change the catalogue setup - as we have done recently , we don't need to change all the links :D .
