This is a continuation of the original thread because a software issue seems to be causing problems with very long threads and we don't want any messages to become unreadable until we can get it fixed.
Jonathan Awesome wrote:An M4B file is an audio file which can be bookmarked. This is the audio-book file type. These files can have chapter markers which can be skipped through as you would skip through files on a play list. They can have built in cover art and chapter images. They will remember where you left off each time you stop the file and come back to it . And variable speed settings on Ipods and a growing number of other mp3 players can be utilized by this file type. The ability to bookmark allows for as little as one large file instead of many small ones without the burden of fast forwarding to find your spot every time you resume listening or the fear of otherwise losing your place. The reduced number of files also makes browsing through your files to find your book and your place in it much less effort.

M4B files used to be kept in a separate catalog, if you see references to pages by number, letter, or language these probably refer to that system. The m4b files and links have been moved, now the links can be found near the links for online text and author on each Librivox catalog page while the m4b files are located on the linked Internet Archive.

If you are interested in converting LibriVox books to M4B audio book files or have done so already please let it be known here when you have so it can be added to the catalog and made available.

Checkout the How to Make M4B Files page on the LibriVox wiki for more information.

If you can't find a picture you like for your book's cover art or would just prefer to you can use this template I've made:

And this file is a .psd file which can be opened with Photoshop or Gimp. The text is already there all you have to do is click on it and replace what I have with the appropriate information and then save it as a .jpg file:
M4BCoverTemplate.psd

The whole process is very easy.

I've archived the last 4.

Anne, should we make an "other language" page for the miscellaneous langauges that have books with a cover? I found a Danish one... We could just mix them all there and write in English (better than nothing?)
