Yes, that was my intention. The only alternative was to make twelve links which didn't seem viable.annise wrote:I have asumed that it was meant to link to here which it does for me

Hi guys!
I'm looking into scripts that can encode from mp3 to m4b, and thought I could ask you guys for some help.
I was wondering whether the program you use to encodes m4b files outputs files with variable bit rates, or constant bit rates?
Also, I presume Chapter & Verse automatically adds in the chapter tags?
Thanks!
(PS, while i'm here, anyone knows of a linux script that can make an m4b file with a given set of mp3s?)

Put yourself in the Readers' Accents Table. See this post.

Hi Jc,
I've created many M4Bs using linux. I got the original inspiration from this blog post http://froebe.net/blog/2009/12/24/how-to-create-an-itunesipod-compatible-audiobook-mpeg4-m4b-on-linux-using-mp4box-and-mp4v2-v1-9-1-it-can-be-done/ and the python script someone made from that method http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1418085
I've modified that script a bit for my own uses - I like to do it in 2 steps; first I convert the mp3s to wav so that I can trim them or do whatever, then I make the wavs into m4b using the NeroAACEncoder - I added a comment about that method to the original blog post at froebe.net (my comment is the last one).
Also, just last week I discovered someone made a GUI, M4Baker http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/M4Baker?content=121693 though I haven't really tried to use that seriously.
So, definitely possible on Linux!

Hi again Jc,
Just noticed I didn't answer your other question! I use constant bit-rate.
Also I thought you might like this Linux one-liner to turn a directory of MP3s into a single M4B:

Code: Select all

Just a note that when looking for templates, I found the ones on this page link to a very old, defunct server. Do we have another source?
