Welllll... if you check Librivox as a reader, and choose Children's Books, and search by publication date, the very first one is:

book-cover-65x65
Fairy Prince and Other Stories
Eleanor Hallowell ABBOTT (1872 - 1958)

It is so without a cover at this point. :) (I noticed especially because it's a book I recorded!)

Thank you,

Nan

It is catalogued not even a week. Even cover makers need some time.

You are free to make your own cover, of course, and upload it as soon as your project is catalogued. :D

Sorry, I didn't realize it takes some time. (I should have.)

Thank you,

I enjoyed this post because it it is heartwarming to see that our covers MATTER, particularly to the soloist and BC involved in the project. That said, cover makers are given roughly 3 weeks to get their covers made. I try to get to mine within a week, including often listening to the whole book to make sure I know what it's about, but sometimes life gets in the way. I've been late on a few, much to my shame. But considering the cover will be up there for years and years (we all like to think "forever"), it's a relatively short time to wait. There is a claim limit of two-at-a-time, to prevent designers from over-claiming, which also helps the BC/soloist get their satisfaction earlier. Fantastic post, really appreciate it.

You were spoilt before - I was your MC so your first cover was uploaded quite soon after cataloguing :D . But it doesn't happen like that often.
Finding a suitable image can take some time, most cover makers try to pick a good image. Readers get 2 months to record things.

Whoever created the cover for Fairy Prince and Other Stories, it is beautiful! I started to go through the process of doing one myself, but then I saw yours. It's very bright and colorful, and the original cover artwork from the first edition captures what is in the book very well -- the eldest daughter and her "betrother," and the Spruce (Christmas) tree in the background.

Many thanks,

Nan
