Recorded in Audacity using Windows 10. I am not sure what the mic specs are but they are the one way plugging type. Thanks :]]

Hi Hannah, welcome to librivox

You do have a couple of tech specs to fix before you are ready to record

The bit rate should be 128 kbps. When you export, change 'quality' to 128 kbps

The recording should use a constant bit rate. When you export, change 'bit rate mode' to 'constant'

Audacity should remember these settings for future exports

Your volume is a little on the high side. We aim for 86 - 92dB (with 89 being the goal) and this is just over 92dB. You might want to turn down your recording volume a little. The checker tool can tell you the volume of a recording, if you want to install that https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/

All tech specs are correct now so you're okay to record.

I don't know if by noise cancelling you mean to cancel during recording. If so i can't help you there but Audacity actually has a noise reduction function to use post recording. Instructions can be found here https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Noisecleaning_With_Pics

If you like you can upload another test after running noise reduction just to ensure everything is still as it should be

This has removed background noise but the volume is now too low at 83dB.

I don't think you need to submit another one, unless you want to. Just make sure that you do check your volume using the checker and amplify as necessary
