Thank you for your help I really appreciate it, Tricia !
One thing I noticed is that during playback I sound much deeper and lower through my headphones - what could be the reason? It must be something I changed in Audacity while trying to figure it all out..

I don't know. Do you hear it that way in the last file you uploaded?
The file here sounds good to me; but then, I don't know how you normally sound.

I figured it out - the microphone properties in my sound settings were set to 44100.

Err, it's supposed to be 44100.

On Audacity it is still 44100
but not on my comp settings.
