Hi there! I'm Vermillion Voice, and this recording was produced with an analog microphone, on a windows computer. I imported it into audacity and normalized to -6 DB, but other than that have applied no processing to the recording.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Welcome to Librivox Vermillion Voice!

For starters, we need files that are MP3s. The file you uploaded is a wav.

Can you export to an MP3 and upload again?

Thanks.

It would figure that I missed something like that! My sincere apologies! I've updated the link accordingly.

Thank you!

OK, couple of things.

Your file shows as ~100 kpbs variable. LV requires 128 kb mono. So please export again with those settings.

Also, your volume is a bit low. We target 89 dB, with 87-91 being ok. You're coming in at 86.4 dB. There's a replaygain plug in for audacity that lets you check volume. Info here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity

No noticeable background noise. Other tech specs OK.

Would you please upload another test addressing these two issues? Post here when it's ready and someone will check it and get back to you.

I boosted the audio with replaygain as suggested--and I exported to constant 1kbps mono.

That checks all the boxes. I'll mark your thread OK.

See you around the forums!
