Hi Gareth and welcome. Your technical specs are fine as is your voice, but your volume is low. We aim at 89 dB and your test is at 80 dB. Turn up the gain in Audacity with that slider bar, move a bit closer to the microphone or increase the gain coming out of your microphone are all good ways to get that volume up there. How do you know your volume? Good question. We use a little program called the Checker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKVOY and recommend it for everyone to get an idea of where their track falls.
So..... increase the volume to around 89 dB, make another test, call it TEST 2, upload and put the link here so I can see it quickly. You are almost there. Ask if anything is confusing. Our local zombie is eager to hear you

No problem mate, we will get you there. Here are a few videos. They will take a few minutes to watch but may save you lots of time later on
AUDACITY: An Overview for the Completely Bewildered http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4QpD1vAJkY New to Audacity? Wonder what all those buttons and funny thingies are? This video will get you recording in just a few minutes and explain which buttons are most useful and which to avoid. Intended mainly for LibriVox recorder
Audacity: basic editing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9NuSuWYaWg&feature=youtu.be
I don't know why you can't move that volume slider thing. It is the one with the little microphone icon in front of it. The slider shold move to the right to make it louder. The one next to it is the speaker bar to increase what you hear.
Be patient, this will work out for you I promise!! Please ask if anything is confusing for you.

Hello Phil, Apologies for the delay, there has been construction in the block.
I am not sure that the clip is louder but I followed the instructions in your video.
Also not sure how to get it to 89 dbl but everything else matches. I hope lol.
