Welcome to Librivox, Preethy!

Are you using Audacity?

I get the bitrate wrong, and the volume a bit too quiet. So if in Audacity, first check to see if you can increase the microphone volume before recording a new test, from the microphone slider in Audacity (Mixer Toolbar), just a bit, so that when you record, the waveform peaks above the 0.5 mark, but not all the way up/down. Alternatively, and/or if the microphone is already maxed up, you can use the Amplify... effect after recording. If after amplifying, you notice any background noise, you can use the Noise Reduction effect: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Noisecleaning_With_Pics#Clean_up_the_Noise:_Audacity_versions_from_2.1.0

Then when you export as mp3, check the format options in the Export Window, and choose "Constant" for Bit Rate Mode, and "128 kbps" for Quality. Then click Save to export and Audacity should keep these settings for all future exports.

So, when ready, please upload a new file to check again :) Of course, ask if there are any questions!

I still get the bit rate wrong. Could you check one more time, when you go to export as mp3, in the Export Window, is "Constant" selected for Bit Rate Mode, and "128 kbps" for Quality?

The volume and sound is nice and clear now so we're making progress :D

That's all good now!

The volume is good now, though towards the loud end, so take care not to go any louder and you'll be fine!

I am really happy to mark your test recording OK! You can now move on to real recordings for the projects that interest you! Have fun!
