Hi Quin

Welcome to Librivox.

You have a pleasant voice and the audio quality of your reading was quite good.

However a couple of the specifications were not met:
1) Recording was in stereo - it needs to be in mono.
2) Sampling rate was 136 lbs variable - it needs to be 128 kbs mono.
Please check this video for information about changing the bit rate:

Please make the necessary corrections and reupload your reading.

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your help. Here is the new recording. I am using audacity and I exported it at 128 kbs and chose "constant." I set the recording as mono in audacity but only forced mono was listed in the export menu so I just left it set as "joint stereo."

Thanks again.

Hi Quin

Basic specifications for the updated recording were OK but it was a bit quiet.

There is a free programme which enables readers to check that their recordings meet all specifications:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

I amplified it by 8 db and applied noise cleaning and it was then passed by Checker.

Phil Chenevert has created a collection of useful videos which cover most aspects of recording and editing with Audacity.

Ah yes I forgot to run it through the checker first. Would you like me to upload another file, or is there anything else I should do before I start trying to make recordings?

Yes - please upload an amended sample. It would be good for you to be certain that all the boxes have been ticked.
