Hi! Welcome to Librivox!

I get the recording in stereo, but I suspect it's because you accidentally click the L --- R , in the left space in Audacity.
If that's not the case, configure your setup to record and/or export in mono, and upload a new file here to check again. Everything else is perfect! Thanks!

Try 2. Seems quiet.

I am using ASR app because I could not find audacity for my galaxy 10 phone. I am willing to use another program if this recording is not up to it. I will search on the forum unless you have suggestions.
Thanks!

It is quiet, yes, but the good thing is that it is in mono. You can't get the volume of your first recording, while keeping the mono setting?

I'm still unfamiliar with phone recording apps - I'm sure it's something that will be the majority soon, so I'll have to familiarize myself eventually

For now, what I can do, is direct you to the Need Help forum viewforum.php?f=23
You can either search that forum in case this question has come up before (there's a search space next to the "New Topic" button)
or post a question of your own there.

Test 3. I was able to increase the gain with ASR so I think this works!

It's definitely better than before!

In numbers, the previous one was 57dB, this one 77dB, and we aim at 89dB, so a bit more volume needed. Can you give it some more gain?

This is another shot. Closer mic and max gain.

That's it! Now you got the volume, you are ready to get involved in the projects that interest you. Have fun!
