Welcome! It sounds really good!

Are you committed to using GarageBand? The reason I ask is that you have the typical bit rate / stereo issue that many GB users have, and it seems like it's difficult to get it fixed in GB. If you're willing to switch to Audacity, it'll be easier to set up the program to record at the right settings.

Here's what we've got on this recording:

1) Volume is actually too loud. ;) This is rare! Usually it's too quiet. You're unique! Needs to come down about 4-5 dB.

2) Recording is in stereo; it needs to be mono.

3) Bit rate is 192 kbps; it needs to be 128.

You could start on fixing these by using this wiki page: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=GarageBand
or if you want to try Audacity, go here: https://www.audacityteam.org/ with setup instructions here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Audacity_1-2-3

Hopefully this corrected the file problems.

I merged the two threads to keep everything together ;)

Thank you for the new test! Now the bit rate is correct

This needs fixing:
The volume is still too high (about 94dB)
The recording needs to be mono

Please have another go, then upload and post again in this thread. You're doing well!

Interesting that the volume is a problem. When I check the file info it's telling me the volume is -1.0 decibels

That's probably saying that the volume is 1.0 dB from maximum. :)

GarageBand has a really hard time getting the bit rate and mono/stereo thing correct at the same time. It seems to trick users into thinking something is in mono, when it's really still in stereo. As I mentioned earlier, you'll probably have an easier time if you use Audacity instead.
