Hello,

I am new to voice recording and am very excited. I appreciate your feedback on my 1 minute recording.

I am using Windows 7, a Sony MDR-7506 USB microphone, Aokeo pop filter, and Audio Technica headphones.

Thank you for your time.

Yvonne

Hi and welcome to Librivox, Yvonne.
Your test recording sounds very nice and you have met the basic specs but with one major failure: your volume is way too low at approx. 65 dB (according to Checker), whereas it needs to come within the range of 86 - 92. It's a common issue.
However, it's relatively easy to fix this, eg, by amplifying the volume in Audacity. You should then also check for noise, because amplifying makes that louder also, so you may need to do some noise cleaning after amplifying.
Plenty of info on that in our wiki.

I strongly recommend using Checker to check your own volume and installing and using ReplayGain into Audacity which will tell you how much to amplify by. Aim for a volume of around 89-90. Let me know if you need more help!

Can you post the amplified version of your test in this thread, please, for a recheck of the volume?

Yvonne,
This file is right on target. PL OK

You may now record for projects. We suggest starting in short works until you are comfortable with the editing process.

When you have some time please take a look at our wiki. It's a wonderful resource.
