Hi everybody,

could someone please check my 1 minute test https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_Lennroe. Especially if it's:
  • loud enough
    not over-edited
and if you can hear my accent.
I struggled a bit with my microphone (Samson G Track) being too quiet with normal Windows 10 settings and I also tried to edit my voice to sound a little smoother.

Thank you.

Hey There:

So glad your here. My name is Luke and I'll be taking over your test today. I've got a few things that your going to need to correct however before you go and record.

1) Volume: We need 86-92dB with 89dB being ideal. Your at 93.7 (so close!) this is what we need to do
Select the whole file in audacity
Go to effects>amplify
Type -5 in the top box
Hit apply

2) Noise Reduction: Next up lets reduce your noise. It was at 36 but now it is at 40 (which is quite loud)
Select a small amount of your file with no talking in it
Go to effect>noise reduction
Click learn
After that go back and select the whole file
Head back over to that Noise Reduction page
Click apply

NICE! So now you have a file that sounds amazing: 2 more quick things (these will all be fixed in the export menu

1) Change the Bit Rate selector to CONSTANT (you are using the default of VARIABLE)
2) You will see a grayed out bot become clickable-change the BIT RATE to 128kbps

Now go to export.

I've taken this test over so I will be notified when you post a new link. I'll be back once those issues are corrected ;)

Thank you, Luke :)
I fixed the issues just as you described and uploaded the new version. Thank you for checking it. By there way is there a way (or maybe a tutorial) how can I make my voice sound a bit softer, deeper - I think I sound like a child and I hear a lot of podcasters somehow doing it.
