Hello all,

This is a test as per the wiki:

"People were pleased to find that Peter Piper had picked a couple pages for fable fans at LibriVox. Thankful that this was Thursday the thirtieth, the Piper anticipated forum fun and a wonderful weekend of recording! This is a test by Martelhoman. Had it been an actual LibriVox contribution, it would have been a Public Domain text, previously published and probably interesting."

The test is with Audacity 2.2.2 (Windows) on a TASCAM DR-40 Linear PCM Recorder:

Any advice or input would be appreciated.

hi and welcome to librivox!

i have checked your test and you are almost there :D

your test is currently at 192 kbps variable, we need it to be 128kbps constant. we have a wiki article explaining how to change that setting here https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Audacity_1-2-3

could you please meke that change and reupload? thank you!

hi martelhoman,

your testrecording is a little bit low in the volume.
we aim for 89db and accet a range of +- 3db - your file has 85,8db, metered by checker.
so, it is only missing 0,2db and i give you the pl ok - but since audacity has no possibility to meter the average volume of your files, here the short tutorials:

to meter the average volume of your file, you can use
 checker (a technical analysis tool, which was made for lv specifically).
calculate the difference between 89-(checker metered volume)= the value, you have to amplify your file
 ReplayGain is a plugin for audacity, which calculates the difference between 89db  and your files volume and gives you the value to enter into the amplify effect.

--> to amplify in audacity, please:
in the menue bar, choose effects > choose amplify > in the amplify window, enter the value you calculated (see above), hit ok - and it is done!

i have no doubt, that you are able to do this and since your future recordings get pled within the projects: please head over to our subforums "readers wanted" and claim 1-2 sections.
a great deal of the fun is, to read something suiting to your interests.
that can be some poetry, short novels or short chapters of a book.

i wish you all the fun you can have with reading for the public domain :-)
cheers,
schrm
