Here is my one minute test for feedback:

Recorded with Audacity on a Windows 10 64-bit system using an old analog stereo lavalier mic from RadioShack

Thanks in advance!

Hello Erik and welcome to our forum. Thank you for your test, I just had a listen and you have a very agreeable voice :9: Easy to understand and follow along, perfect for audiobook-narration.

The technical settings are all up to LV standard as well, you did your homework

There is only 2 things I would like to bring to your notice

1) the volume is slightly outside our limits (86-92 dB accepted, yours is a bit under 86.) Amplifying with 3 dB for example would bring it closer to the optimal average of 89 dB. In Audacity you can amplify like this:

> highlight your recording
> go to Effect
> go to Amplify
> input 3 (in your case now) in the first slot (amplification dB)
> press ok

2) the background noise could be reduced a little bit for a better listening experience. This can be done like this:

> select a small portion where you don't speak (usually at the end of your file)
> go to Effect - Noise Reduction
> first select Get Noise Profile
> then highlight the entire recording
> again Effect - Noise Reduction
> now select OK

That's it. Could you try out these two functions please (no re-recording necessary) and post in this same thread so I can have another listen ?

Thanks

Sonia

That was easier than I thought it would be!

hehe, not everything has to be difficult in life ;)

perfect corrections, Erik. Thanks, and now your volume is inside our desired limits. I can mark this test OK and you are ready to record for real. Check around the forum, there's bound to be a few projects you'd like to dig in, I'm sure.

Have fun

Sonia
