Hi everyone,
I'm a new volunteer reader & was just hoping to share my 1 minute test for feedback. Here is the url:

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/J_Leach_Librivox_1_min_test.mp3

This was recorded using Quicktime Player on a Mac w/ OS High Sierra 10.13.15. The mp4 file was exported to mp3 using a converter.

Thanks so much!

Josh

Sounds good! Two technical things to figure out and fix:

1. Recording is in stereo; we use mono. (makes the files smaller and gives better quality)

2. Your mp3 bit rate is 320 kbps. We need 128 kbps. This is done at the encoding-to-MP3 stage.

I can't give any directions on how to fix these, since I am not familiar with QT and your converter. Hopefully you can change the settings easily.

When you've got it, please upload a new test using the same file name, and post the link in this thread.

Hi,
Thanks for the fast reply and the help! Here is the url for the file with the corrected format:

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/J_Leach_Librivox_1_min_test.mp3

It's in mono. However, I'm having trouble finding a place to select 128 kbps. The version of Audacity I used to convert the file seems to only offer broad ranges of kbps rates in the export stage. The closest I could get when exporting this file was 133 kbps. Please let me know if that will work or if there's a step I'm missing.

Thanks again for the help!

Oh! If you're using Audacity to export to MP3, I can help you with that. 8-)

When you go to export, on the screen where you enter the file name for the MP3, change the Bit Rate mode to Constant. Then you can set the quality to 128 kbps.

Just give me a "Ah! Got it!" when you have it, and at that point I'll mark this OK. I don't think you need to upload another test - if you say you got it, you probably do. ;)

Aha! Thanks so much! Okay, exported as constant at 128 kbps. Grateful for the pass on posting another test, but just uploaded it anyway to make sure: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/J_Leach_Librivox_1_min_test.mp3

Thank you again!!

Next step: signing up for some sections on a collab project

really appreciate it
