Alex,

You need to post the link you get when the uploader finishes uploading your file, not a link to another thread... :)

Is this it: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_AlexMcKean.mp3 ?

Presuming that it's your test...

First off, it's in MONO, and this is great!

Now, other parts of it need to be changed a bit.

When you record, make sure you have the rate of 44100 samples per second (yours is 48000).

When you export the MP3 file, make sure you select constant bitrate mode, 128 kbps (yours is variable).

The volume is OK, but you really need to clean the noise. See this wiki page to help you with the steps.

You don't really need to re-record. You can resample your track to 44100, reduce the noise (make sure to listen in headphones), and then export correctly, and you'll be OK.

Don't forget to copy the link the uploader gives you.

Alex, it's up to you whether you want to try to fix up the existing recording and upload the result, or record a new one, do with it all that is needed and upload that.

To fix your track you need to (a) resample, (b) clean the noise -- this will require two passes, I am afraid, (c) export with correct settings.

To record new one... Well, you still need to (a) set the sample rate correctly, (b) record, (c) make sure the noise is tolerable (noise floor should be below -50 dB), (d) export with correct settings.

You're familiar with the uploader, just don't forget to get the link right.

Oh, and there is a program many of us use, called Checker, you can download and install it. Run your MP3 file through it, and see if you get green light. Upload if you do, or if you don't, upload only if you don't know how to fix it and want somebody to take a listen.

Ask any specific questions as they pop up. We're here to help!

My honest opinion, Alex, is that your test is now perfect.

You are ready for LibriVox.

An admin will stop by this thread to mark it with an OK, and possibly to merge with the other thread, and you can already visit our "Readers Wanted" forums and sign up to as many projects as you feel reasonable.

Happy recording! :)
