Hi there, I'm using Audacity on Windows PC with an analogue mic. Thanks for listening. All feedback most welcome. Cheers, dkr1

Hi there David!

Welcome to Librivox! That was a very smooth recording that you did!

There are a couple of technical issues that we need you to fix and then you will be ready to go -

First, we need to amplify your recording. Here is how to amplify your recording -
Amplify: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_z607awyLw

Next we need to get your export settings corrected. The good news is with Audacity when you get them set, the program remembers them for future exports.
File>Export audio>(wherever you want to save it is fine) however look at the bottom of the Save window.
Bit rate should be 'Constant'
Quality '128kbps'
Now Save

You might want to install the Checker Tool which is what we use to test our Librivox files -

https://cgjennings.ca/checker.html

It will test for all the settings that I tested your 1 minute file for including volume.

So play with the Audible Amplify and then save the file and run it through Checker until you get a Passed and then please Repost to this thread (do not create a new one - it is hard to follow you and I will check that one out!

Hi Lynda, Thank you so much for your great advice. I'll have a play around and tweak a few things and then repost.

Very best wishes.

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_dkr1.mp3 Hi Lynda, after a bit of head scratching I've managed to upload again with the changes (hopefully!) Ran it through checker and got the thumbs up so here it is. My only doubt is whether or not I've got the volume right, but hey-ho, I can always try again.

Much appreciated.
