Hi there!

Welcome to Librivox!

That was a great first recording! There are just 2 technical issues - your recording voice is very good and clear!

One is that your bit rate should be 128 kbps. This you can fix this when saving a recording - it is on the bottom of the save window - just change the setting to 128 kbps and it will remember every time you save a file after this.

The second issue is background noise/humming. I was able to clean it by running you recording through the Noise Reduction process that is found under Effects in Audacity. First highlight your whole recording (Ctrl - A on a PC) and then select Noise Reduction from the Effects menu. First pick Get Noise Profile. Once finished go back to Effects > Noise Reduction and reduce the noise with the following settings 3, 6,0, 6 and Reduce bullet. Save the recording.

Now go to http://cgjennings.ca/checker/ and install this little app - it is what we use to check the recordings to ensure that they are at the right volume and there are no technical issues. It should list you as Passed. If you do not pass please let me know what the issue is and I can help you resolve it!

Sorry - just realized that you probably do not have the link anymore -

Please upload the file to the server again (to the Test/Test account) and post the link :)

These are better instructions!

Sorry for the confusion. I re-uploaded the file with the same name, so I just assumed it would override the old file.

Thanks!

It does overwrite it - but I cannot see the server - the only way I can see the file is when you post the link.

I will be back in about 30 minutes - I am currently working on one of my own recordings.

Hi there!

You pass! Way to go!

You are now able to go forth and record on Librivox - you have passed on all the technical settings!

Let me know if you have any questions -

Best of luck and most of all - have fun!
