Howdy. I am brand new and I am not sure why my test sounds so crappy :help: . My Audio Technica2020AT USB Microphone is professional grade and works just fine in other programs so I know that it is the settings that I have wrong in Audacity. Thanks for your help!

Hmm. Since you say the mic is fine in other programs, then it is probably not a loose connection, bad cable or USB port issue.
Let's start by confirming that Audacity is recognizing the correct recording device.

Edit - preferences - devices
check that the AT2020 is selected under recording device

I haven't tried with the latest versions, but it was necessary for the microphone to be connected before you strarted Audacity for it to recognise it automatically
