Hello all,
I would appreciate your feedback on my one minute test. I suspect I am reading too fast, so I'll definitely work on that.

Please let me know about settings, as this is my very first attempt with recording. My first few attempts using checker came back with too high volume, and although this sample passed the checker, I'm still a bit concerned about volume. I am using Audacity, an audio-technica mic with a pop filter, and an iMac.

Thanks for your help,
Rebecca

Hello Rebecca, welcome to LibriVox :)

I just listened to your one-minute test, and to answer your question regarding the speed of your reading, you know, there will never be a clear-cut answer to that.

Some people (like me) want a slower reading. I myself need that to really follow a read text, I need some breathing pauses to ponder about what has been said. Others on the other hand will tell you that slow reading is boooooring and they drift away.

So the general rule is: read the way you think is best and maybe the way you would want that other people would read to you. As long as you are expressive and enunciate clearly, it will be comprehensible to listen to. And in your case you fulfill those two criteria. :)

Also the technical aspects are all perfectly in the LV norm  So I can only give your test the coveted OK on the first try. Well done, you are ready to roll. I hope you have fun on the forum and find plenty of interesting projects to get tucked into.

Sonia
