Hello! My username is Dravon, but the name I'll use on recordings is my real name of Sondra.

My setup: Windows PC, Audacity 2.0.3, a USB Samson mic.

I've uploaded 2 versions of the same file. The first one is RAW: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_dravon.mp3
This second has a noise reduction effect added using the default settings: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test2_dravon.mp3

I'm looking forward to feedback and hopefully getting started with something. Thanks!

- Dravon

Welcome!

Sounds good!

What are the default settings on the Noise Reduction? I have changed mine so much, I have no idea anymore.

The setting seems to have reduced the noise a bit, but not much. My settings are as follows:
Noise reduction: 10-16 (I suggest about 10 for you)
Sensitivity: 6
Frequency Smoothing: 6

The noise is the only issue, and it's not a huge one. So we can continue to play with it a bit in this thread, but I'm going to mark the test as OK at this point. :)

Applying the settings that you proscribed, attached is the revised version of the raw file: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test3_dravon.mp3

I'm sorry but I forgot to write down the settings which appeared when I first opened it. I'm not 100% positive but I think it was something akin to:

Noise reduction: 12
Sensitivity: 1
Frequency: 0
Attack/decay time: 0.15

I'm working on a little sound box that I can move into position and help reduce random noises. I had my head and mic draped with a towel to get rid of the reverb.

Thank you!
