Just letting you all know that a new version of checker is available, and it now uses the same volume-checking algorithm as MP3 gain. Also fixed is the handling of multiple files (it will queue them now, rather than trying to do them all at once and taking over your computer).

When you post your one minute test who are you waiting on for approval?

Whoever gets to it. Many people are uncomfortable checking tests, so there are only 2-3 of us doing it right now.

I've just checked yours. The comments are in the thread. :)

Hello Tricia san,
I have a question.
TriciaG wrote:Whoever gets to it. Many people are uncomfortable checking tests, so there are only 2-3 of us doing it right now.
Is this mean whoever can add the title a mark OK?
I thougt this is only allowed for the reader & admins.
If this is allowed , I'll join in only 2-3 at a simple case.

Cheers,
Masa

Hi Masa San,

Only admins can mark it as OK (on the subject title) but anyone can check the tech settings (with the checker) and tell the Newbie how to improve it, and say when it is alright for them to start recording! :D I think it's only marked OK on the title to show which recordings have been checked and OK'd and which haven't!

Cat :)

Souce: I've checked about three people now! :)

What Cat said.

Basically, if you're experienced enough to check the tech specs, volume, and to hear background noise and plosives (and hopefully give tips to improve these if needed), you can help check the tests. But only admins and the original poster have the ability to edit the first post to put in the "OK" (which is just a way to tell at a glance what still needs checking/work and what doesn't).

Hello Cat san & Tricia san,
Thank you for quick explanation.

Do you know who changed the title?
In other words, is there any method to know who changed the title?

When I think the test recording is OK, can I ask the original poster to add OK to the title?
Or should I wait some dmin change the title?

Cheers,
Masa

Masa san,
I assume Tricia changed the title. I don't think you should worry a Newbie by letting them change it. As far as I can remember, I could barely figure out how to add smilies in my first week! :D

Hello Cat san & Anne san,
Thank you for your advice.
Everything is clear. I'll follow the current protcol.
When the recording is OK. I post it & wait an admin change the title.

In the near future I'd like to make the system more efficient.

Cheers,
Masa

Joining in this discussion - I have used Checker.jar in a Windows environment, and it works brilliantly.
I also run a Ubuntu platform, and I am not sure how to install the checker software. I was advised to install the latest Java first, I think that is OK, but now I have downloaded the checker pack, and I am confused about making it "run". Has anyone had a similar request?
Thanks for any replies

I know nothing about Ubuntu. (Good start, eh?)
Download and unzip the JAR file. On most platforms, you can double-click the JAR file to run it. If that doesn't work for you, you can it start it from the shell using a line like: java -jar checker.jar
It's all Greek to me. If this doesn't work, you might like to ask Darvinia - she seems to get most things working in Ubuntu.
