Hi there,
Are you possibly using a computer that is managed by someone else? in other words, you don't have admin permissions for the computer you're trying to install it on?

is it possible to be a qualified 'listener editor' - using only Tablet Technology {specifically Kindle Fire HDX}? I do not have access to laptop or other technology, but would love to volunteer for this function :?:

I hope this is the right place, but:
When I use the check file by URL option I get:
"This does not appear to be an MP3 file. It might be a different file type, or the file might be corrupt."
Even though the file is MP3, and I personally checked that it's not corrupt. :?

I've never used that option. It downloads the file, so you might as well download it yourself and drop it into the checker. :hmm:

Testing this a little more: I wonder if it doesn't like secure (https) URLs. If you go to the uploader folder of the MC (such as mine here: http://uploads.librivox.org/triciag/ ) and use the URL from there, it's not https, and seems to work.

Hello everyone, I've just joined and I'm trying to nail down the tech spec's. This "Checker" tool looks interesting, but all the posts are several years old. Is anyone using this on Windows 10 Pro (64bit)?

The checker fails everything I do. Please advise.

File size - 0.5 MiB
Encoding Type MPEG-1 Layer III (encoded with LAME3.99r)
MP3 Format 128 kbps 44,100 Hz Mono
Track Length 0:32.00
Volume 90.9 dB
DC Bias -6 (-0.0191%)
Clipped Audio 0ms (0.00%)

This is the Checker specs

What does it say in the Validation tab? (the specs you've listed here are in the Information tab, I think)

Does it say something about file length?

Our cataloging system will "fail" anything under 5 minutes. This is a flag to check whether the file truly is very short, or if it was cut off during the uploading process. I believe Checker has the same criteria re file length.

If that's all it is, post your file in Listeners and Editors Wanted, and get some other humans to listen to it. :)

That, or maybe it's looking for ID tags. Or the file name doesn't follow the standard format.

So yes, check the Validation tab. :)

Thanks! I feel someone moronish now lol. Validation tab told me everything I needed to know. The problem was the file name. It didn't have any underscores. Thanks you guys. Once I renamed the file it actually passed. BOOMSauce!

You guys rock!

I cannot get my recording volume up to specifications. I have increased it on Audacity, increased the gain on my interface to the point of clipping, did a live chat with Focusrite (the maker of my interface) who said to contact the maker of my software, searched FAQs on Audacity's website, increased the recording level on my PC (HP laptop with Windows 10), read "Recording for Newbies", and swore (that doesn't usually help, but sometimes it makes you feel better, especially if accompanied with the slamming of a door) and still cannot get the recording volume required. I can't get Checker to test it because it comes in too low. Can you say 'frustration'? Anyone got any ideas?

Some people always have to amplify , but that also amplifies background noise so it's better not to . You don't mention your microphone set up ? You have checked Audacity is using your microphone not the built in one ? That can happen sometimes and is the easiest to fix.
