Looking forward to hearing feedback for my first test. I used Audacity and a Yeti USB microphone.

Hi Talia

I reviewed your test sample and some changes are needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kb constant bit rate, mono, and between 86db and 92db, preferably 89-90. Your sample is 142kbps, variable bit rate, and in stereo.

When exporting your MP3 from Audacity, be sure to first check Bit Rate Mode - Constant, then select 128kb from the pull-down menu, and check Force Export to Mono.

You can verify your audio yourself by downloading the free Checker app: https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/

Please record a new test with the same file name and post it as a reply. Someone will meander by and review it for you.

Hi Talia

Okay, you're very close. The sound is very echo-y. Anything you can do to deaden your recording space will help. There are ideas in the Wiki.

Also, you've got just a bit too much background noise - it needs to be reduced about -10db.

A video tutorial on Audacity noise removal is available here: https://youtu.be/rvhqw7zBmEo The key is to use it lightly so as to not distort your audio.

Please record a new test with the same file name and post it as a reply. I'm sure this will do it and you'll be on your way.

Congrats! You are good-to-go. Your volume is barely under the max at 91.9db, so you'll want to keep an eye on that. Happy narrating!
