Hi I have uploaded my one minute test

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_CharmingJo12.mp3

I have used an android recording app and imported into Audacity to edit. I'm not sure this is okay so let me know if it works or not.
I recorded mono at 44100Hz, exported as MP3 at a constant 128 kbps,

Many thanks!

Hello Jo,

Your test is good technically (mono, constant 128kbps...)

It needs to be louder for LibriVox. Checker reads its volume at 82 dB, and we need 89 (or anywhere between 87 and 91).

You can download and install Checker right next to Audacity, or you could use another method of verifying the volume. You choose.

Right now you just need to amplify your track (select all, Effect -> Amplify, value=7), then export and re-upload. Somebody will check again.

You're on the right track! Just a couple steps to go. :)

ETA: post the link again as a reply in this very thread.

Hello Jo,

This time it's a bit much. Checker (did you download it?) says the volume is 99.5 dB. We need 89 dB.

Could you do it once more, to get it in the required range? You'll need to amplify it with the negative 10 now. That is, the value should be "-10" in your Amplify effect.

Thanks.

Thank you for the feedback. I had not used Checker as I had problems downloading it. I've successfully downloaded Checker now :)

I have amplified with -10 and Checker says it's 89.6 decibels
