I am sorry for making so many mistakes, but thank you very much for taking the time to give me such detailed instructions for correction. Hopefully I have managed to make the necessary adjustments. Please let me know if I need to change anything else!

Best regards,
Anna

Hi, Anna!

Welcome to LibriVox!! (Boy, do I remember how confusing everything was to me in my first days, so don't worry about the mistakes!) 8-)

This project continues to be blessed with excellent readings. Your pace is perfect, and there are no problems in the body of the chapter reading.

There are 3 minor edits needed on Section 17 -

First, at the end of the intro, just before the actual reading begins, we need a "Part 1" inserted. Right now that is at the :32 mark.

Second and Third, we need the beginning and ending silences fixed to the proper lengths. Not sure why LibriVox needs them as they're requested, but . . . We need .5 to 1 second up front, and 5 seconds at the end. Right now you have 3.5 up front and 2.5 at the end. If you open your recording and zoom in until you see the half-second tick marks, you can easily highlight 2.5 seconds at the beginning, clip it out, and paste it onto the end. That'll fix this section for you. :)

(But add in your "Part 1" first, so the time stamp I gave you doesn't change when you fix the silences.)

Really glad to "meet" you, and looking forward to listening to your other sections!!

EDITED TO ADD note for Section 18:

This section has almost identical edits needed. :)

First, end of intro - the name of the section is so very quiet that Amplifying it can't work, so that portion will need to be re-recorded (time stamp is :27-:33 )

Second and Third, the silences need fixing. Front silence needs to be cut down to only 1 second, and there is currently no silence at the end. Just record 5 seconds of silence there. :)

Hello Lynette and Jo,

Thank you both so much for all of your help and patience!

I just uploaded the corrected files:

Jo -- if you don't mind, I think I will choose a different catalogue name, but it might take me a little bit to come up with something as clever as yours

Thank you again!

Best regards,
Anna

Volume is good on these now. Your files are linked in the MW ready for PL. Our DPL will let you know if any other changes are needed. Please check back for any PL notes.

Just one more note for future files, please include the runtime of the file in mm:ss when you post the links. This is so that the PLer knows how long a file is before listening and serves as a double check that the file uploaded in it's entirety.

Here is a link to your LV catalog page https://librivox.org/reader/16632

If you click on the link for Reader Section Details below your username you will find a summary table showing the status of all the sections that you have signed up to read in open projects.  Click on any of the thread titles in this list to navigate to the thread on the forum.

If you wish to be listed in the catalog by another name than your forum username, let me know. This can be the same as your forum name as it is now, your real name or another pseudonym of your choice. If you have a personal website, that can be linked as well.
Sections 17 and 18 are PL OK now.

Have fun with your next sections. :)

Hello Jo,

This next section has a footnote -- do you have a preference for how I handle it? (It is short and not just a source citation: "This was written before the introduction of the 6d. telegram in England.")

Thank you!

Hi Anna. Thanks for asking. Let's skip the footnotes and just read the main text.

Hello,

Here is section 13 (30 minutes, 42 seconds): https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/fortythousandmiles_13_vincent_128kb.mp3

The audio changes mid-way since I needed to switch microphones. Please let me know if it would be best for me to re-record this section,

Thank you!

Hi, Anna,

Yeah, unfortunately, I think it would be best to re-record at least the first half. Your reading is so beautiful, and it gets 90% lost on that microphone, with Noise Reduction unable to remedy it, either. I would keep the second half and copy/paste it onto a new recording of the first part. You could start the saved second part from "The postal rate of 2d. is uniform throughout the colonies," (which is at 15:36 on this track).

It can be frustrating to get everything sorted out in your recording setup, but once it's all happy, everything goes much more smoothly :)

Hello Jo,

I have finally thought of what I would like my catalogue name to be: "allegro200Hz".

Thank you very much!
