Yes, 10 is still available! I'll sign you up for it this evening. In the meantime, I think it would be beneficial for you to complete a new one-minute test: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test This will ensure that your equipment is all in working order and that your settings are all where they need to be.

Hello!
Here's section 14: https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/prophetsandkings_14_maurice_128kb.mp3
Duration: 35:51
Side note- I ran the file through Checker, and it threw this flag: "The recording should be in mono sound, not stereo sound." Audacity shows it's a mono file, so please let me know if there are any issues.
Thanks!

I did the 1 minute test and and uploaded it. I also ran it through checker and it barely hit the 86db minimum with my microphone volume turned all the way up and me speaking pretty close to the mic and with me projecting my voice pretty loud. Here is my link, I'm looking forward to your recommendations.

Nice work! Yes, I am seeing the volume at 86.8, which is pretty good. I'd caution you against trying to project loudly as you record, though. It's very difficult to keep up for a long stretch at a time, and can even end up damaging your voice in the long run if you don't do it just right. Instead, you'll want to speak a comfortable, normal level, and then amplify if needed. It helps to be pretty close to the mic, although you don't want it right up next to your mouth, because it can pick up windy plosive noises from your breath with certain consonants. Listen to your test at about 0:04 and 0:10 to see what I mean. Here is how to amplify in Audacity, if that is the program you're using: https://youtu.be/z_z607awyLw And to avoid plosive noise, you'll want to set your mic slightly to one side, so that your breath is moving past it, not directly into it. Likewise, if you have a headset, you should position the mic either up near you nose, or down by your chin, not directly in front of your mouth.acweber78 wrote: ↑October 12th, 2021, 11:29 pm I did the 1 minute test and and uploaded it. Thank you. I'm seeing the same result in Checker, and when I import this file into Audacity, it comes in as stereo. I suspect that maybe you're recording in mono, but then afterwards, perhaps when exporting, it is being converted into stereo due to some setting being off. Could you double check the settings you have selected in the Export box and let me know what they are? (If that doesn't end up being the issue, I probably won't be much help, so you may want to ask in the Need Help section of the forum, where there are people smarter than me. )JVoxMachina wrote: ↑October 12th, 2021, 10:56 pm Hello!

Aha! Yes, that appears to have been the issue. Checker says the file is ok, and I've uploaded it. Thank you!

Welcome to LibriVox! I'm so pleased that you've chosen this project for your first venture. I'm enjoying this book so far.
I'll go ahead and assign these to you. What name would you like to use in the catalogue? It can be your real name, screen name, or some other pseudonym.
It's a good idea to make sure that all your tech is in place where it needs to be and that the recordings will be in the right format, so it's best to complete a one-minute test before sitting down to your real recordings. It's much easier to fix any issues on a small sample than a 40-minute-long sermon! Instructions can be found here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test
(By the way, it is helpful when requesting sections to include the section number in your request. In this case, 11 and 12. )

I had a lot of fun recording this and would be happy to read section 23 too .
Trim about 1 second from the opening silence and 3 to 4 seconds from the ending silence, and this recording will be PL ok!

Larry, I didn't quite make it to yours. I'm dropping asleep, even though my usual bedtime isn't for another hour or so. So I'm going to turn in for the night, but I hope to hear your excellent recording tomorrow!
Here's a trimmed version of sermon 22 - the new length is 38:13.

And here's sermon 23, length 44:01.

Thanks, Brandon! Looks like you trimmed off a bit too much from the end of 22. That might have been my fault; it's possible I was too hasty in determining how much needed to go. I wasn't really at my best last night. In any case, it was easy enough for me to add a couple of extra seconds on to the end and upload it myself this time, so don't worry about it. Just bear in mind for the future that you'll want 0.5-1 second at the beginning and about 5 seconds at the end.

Nice work on this one, Larry! Yes, the payoff was at the end here, you're right. A couple of spots to address.silverquill wrote: ↑October 7th, 2021, 9:24 pm This was longer than I expected, but the ending was worth it.

9:20 Word switch here. Text reads, "and the voice of them that make merry." I hear, "and the voice of them that make mercy."
31:01 Stumble and restart. "The ready and decisive reply to all such changes are owing to the progresses.... The ready and decisive..."
