Here is the corrected version of section 27. Unfortunately from a file comparison standpoint it's still 38m 38s long.

https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/cambridgemodernhistory3_27_various_128kb.mp3

Correction begins at 0:34.5, ends at 0:51.5. Includes the following text:

“Amid so many contending parties William scarcely knew which way to turn. Matthias was already clearly played out. John Casimir and Anjou, representing contradictory interests, could scarcely be both countenanced.”

I included more text in an effort to get the correction to “blend in,” but it still doesn’t, quite. But in any case the recording starts off with the right word instead of the wrong one.

PL note:

Many thanks for your new editions! I heard all spots are pretty smoothly updated, but I will wait to see if you want to try again for the new 8:24 and old 8:22 spot, which feels a little less smooth than the other spots that you've edited.

When you are content with everything, I will change the status to PL OK for you!

Regards,
Jessie

I wouldn't worry about that, unless there's a large volume difference that is uncomfortable to the ear. :)

Thank you both!

PL note:

feedback on the 25:40 recording for Section-62:
10:04 throat sound like a cough, between the words "cousin" and "Cuconnaught" in the sentence "... a warning had reached the former from his cousin Cuconnaught Maguire, who was then ..."
25:31 section "4" while it is section "62", which is part 4 of chapter 18.

I would say your reading is very nicely done and that both spots are nearly neglectable.

Jessie

Thanks for PLing! I checked the first issue to see if it was optional (and also because I was curious how Cuconnaught was pronounced by an Irish speaker), and I didn't hear anything wrong. The section number should be fixed.

Also, the level of background noise on this recording (53 dB) is above our standard. Please refer to my message about section 61 for instructions on how to reduce it:
