Hello Lucy,
For section #14, the reading is PL Okay but once again the volume comes in at 92.8 dB which is high. Please reach out for help if you need help on this. Otherwise, the recordings you did are fine.
:D
Thanks,
Lora

Hi Lynett,

I would like to read chapter 16 - "Carnegie as a Metal Worker". I'm new here and am super excited to get started. I haven't done my 1 min test yet but can get it done in the next day or two.

Question I have on the test, am I supposed to read the text from this chapter for 1 min? Or is there something else I need to submit for that?

Thanks,
Deacon

Hi and welcome to Librivox!
Before you get started, you will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run. Your section will be held for 1 month pending your test. Please keep in touch if there is a problem.
You will also need to be added to the catalog of readers. I will add you using your forum name, but if you prefer your real name or a pseudonym let me know. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will be taken to your catalog page.Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.

Hello Michelle,
I've marked section #18 as PL Okay, but you will want to omit the repetition of the first sentence which occurs at :39.

Thank you!

I have a question on recording the chapter.

Am I supposed to record the whole chapter in one audio file or is it supposed to be split into individual audio files?

CARNEGIE AS A METAL WORKER
  • Early Work and Wages
    • Colonel Anderson’s Books
    • His First Glimpse of Paradise
    • Introduced to a Broom
    • An Expert Telegrapher
    • What Employers Think of Young Men
    • The Right Men in Demand
    • How to Attract Attention
    • Sleeping-Car Invention
    • The Work of a Millionaire
    • Iron Bridges
    • Homestead Steel Works
    • A Strengthening Policy
    • Philanthropy
    • “The Misfortune of Being Rich Men’s Sons”

It should be all one file. Just read the sub titles, take a breath then continue with the text. At just over 4000 words it will probably be about 30 minutes edited time. We only split chapters if they are over about 8000 words and that’s not a hard and fast rule.
