Section 12 PL Notes

There are a number of background noises in the file which detract from the reading.
Are you using Audacity. If so you can do the following to remove this.

Step 1 - Select a piece of background noise
Select a piece of background noise (no speech, breaths or other noises) in your audio.
In Menu click: Effect > Noise Reduction... A dialog will pop up.
Click "Get Noise Profile" The dialog box will close instantly.

Step 2 - Noise Reduction
Press CTRL-A / Command-A to select your complete recording.
In Menu click: Effect > Noise Reduction... again. Note: don't select "Repeat Noise Reduction" -- that instantly applies the default settings; you want to adjust the settings and preview the results before you apply the noise filters.

Set Noise Reduction (dB) to 14
Set sensitivity to 6.00
Set frequency smoothing bands to 6
Choose Noise: Reduce
Click ok

PL Notes for section 15

The volume is 85dB which is too low. We aim for between 86-92 dB but ideally we would like it to be at 89 dB.
In Audacity you will also find the option to amplify under 'effects'.
How to amplify in Audacity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_z607awyLw
If you like you can use the checker tool to verify volume and other settings.
https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/

There should be between 0.5 and 1 second of silence at the beginning of the file it is currently shorter than this

There should be 5 seconds of silence at the end of the file it is currently shorter than this

Please could you carry out the edits then upload the file using the same file name. If you need any more help please just ask. Thanks
Michele

I have found some rookie mistakes, where I thought I was recording over mistakes, but Audacity doesn't work like that! I am not sure what your process is, but I know that I will have a few things to fix. Thanks for your listening!
