Hi Leni,

I've just uploaded Chapter 12. Length is 6:50.54. This is the link:

https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/original_stories_12_woolstonecraft_128kb.mp3

I had volume issues in the beginning but ran the final file through the checker and it passed. Hope everything else is ok. This is my first reading so happy to receive any constructive criticism.

Cheers,
Cate

Thank you, Cate, and welcome aboard! This is a lovely first reading. I particularly enjoyed your vividly expressive rendering of Mary's peevishness at the beginning, and I am still trying to learn to read with a steady pace and clarity like yours.

There's only one thing that needs to be changed: the opening silence is between 1 and 2 seconds and should be between .5 and 1 seconds, so just needs a little snip.
I've also seen a recommendation--not a rule--to keep internal silences under 3 seconds in sections with only one reader. So I would suggest trimming the silence after the chapter title (from second 37 to second 42) down a little.

Just upload your corrected file under the same name and post the link here again with the new file length.

I hear you about the challenge of volume (I'm also a fairly new LV reader), but this doesn't need to be changed--your recording passes Checker and I didn't find the loudest parts uncomfortably loud or the quietest parts hard to hear. It sounds as though you tend, as I do, to start sentences loudly and finish them quietly... I sometimes end up taking breath breaks mid-sentence and then editing the mid-sentence silences out in Audacity before exporting in order to even my volume out a bit. But this is not necessary.

Thank you again!
Cheers,
Joanna

Chapter 29 @ 6:06 Ready for PL

Chapter 21 is PL OK. (The only thing that briefly confused me was the 29 in the forum post, but the filename and the reading are just right...) Thanks!

Hi Joanna,

Thanks for your lovely comments on my reading. So glad that it was ok!

I've cut out some of the silence at the beginning and before the story begins as suggested. The new length is 6:47. This is the link to the updated file:

Looks as if you're doing a great job, Cate.
And, Joanna is giving great feedback. :)

Leni, our hard working MC will change your catalog name.

You can just click on your name in the MW to view you personal reader page. This is where you can track all of your LV projects, of which I hope there will be many!

WELCOME TO LIBRIVOX
