A Girl Among the Anarchists, by Isabel Meredith (Helen and Olivia Rossetti) (1875 - 1960)

This project is now complete.  All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/a-girl-among-the-anarchists-by-isabel-meredith/

Volunteers outside the USA: Isabel Meredith (Helen and Olivia Rossetti) died in 1964. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 50 years; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
Helen and Olivia Rossetti were rather precocious girls in Victorian London. While still extremely young, they published a renowned anarchist journal in their home which drew prominent figures to their salon. From their expriences, they co-authored this 1903 novel, in which the narrator, Isabel Meredith, reveals a first-hand inside account of the countercultural community of late-19th century British anarchism. This was certainly far outside the normal purview of the women of Victorian society. (Summary by Lynette Caulkins)

Hi sorgeaw,

I will MC this for you, but you will need to write a different summary. We cannot use a summary from Amazon which is not public domain.

Since this will be your first project as soloist/book coordinator(BC), you will need to set up a password for access to the workflow system so you can enter the information into the section compiler which then appears in the "Magic Window" in the top post. Here are some links to detailed instructions for logging into the system and setting a password the first time, as well as for entering and editing information in the section compiler.

Instructions for BCs and DPLs

A version of the above is also in the LibriVox wiki in case you can't access Google Docs for some reason.

BCs - How to Update the Magic Window

If you have any questions, let me know. Since Kevin has volunteered, I will go ahead and put him in as DPL.

Looking forward to working with you.

Thank you both so much! I'm excited to dive into this book.
I've added the chapter titles to the MW, but I'm not sure how to change the summary above. Do I just edit the post, or do I need to go back to the original form?
Also, now that I have a DPL, should I remove the tilde from the subject?

Yes just edit the post. I already removed the tilde when I added Kevin as DPL. :)

I'll have a listen soon!

Please don't forget to put the time (length) of the recording in the notes section of the Magic Window.

Content is fine and the reading is great. All that needs be done is to clean up the 'fuzz' in the background. (It's quite high, about twice what we prefer.) If you need help with the Noise Reduction effect, just let me know.

OK, thanks--I cleaned it up a bit and re-uploaded...let me know if it's still fuzzy!

I think this section would benefit from a noise cleaning. This is a good amount of hiss. And please remove the last little bit of noise at the very end.
