I completed sermon 10, I went to the uploader and it asks for "mc" I don't know what that is, or which I'm supposed to choose if you could help when you get a chance

The MC is mightyfelix. Make sure you use the filename selectionsermonsjohncalvin_10_calvin_128kb.mp3

Thanks!

Do you happen to know of other Reformed Christian books or works similar to this that need completed? I already do Christian audiobooks all the time and I love it

You've got a few things you could do.
  • You can have as many of these Calvin sermons as you like.
  • I can give you Handley Moule's Justifcation chapter from The Fundamentals. As I've read Warfield recently, he quotes Moule consistently approvingly, if that gives him sufficient Reformed credentials for you.
  • You could help out with Augustine on the psalms.
  • You're welcome to launch a solo project. Here's what is in the catalogue for Calvin already but you really could pick anything that is public domain.
  • Once these Calvin sermons are done, I'm intending to launch The Marrow of Modern Divinity as a dramatic reading which will need several people.

All of this information (MC, file name, text source) is in the very first post of each project thread. You'll need to learn how to locate all of that for future projects. This video may help: https://youtu.be/hB57z2l5LtA (It is a somewhat older video. You can see that the forum had a bit of a different look when this was made. But the info is still all the same.

I've put your name on them. When you post the links, can you also post the length of the mp3s?

Thanks!

The volume is a bit too low. We aim for 86-92dB. What audio editor do you use? The ReplayGain plugin for audacity will do the levels automatically and you can use the Audacity compressor to even out the levels. For the compressor, I use the settings -9, -25, 3:1, 0.5, 1.9, No Make-up gain and Yes to Compress based on Peaks.

Sermon 10 PL Notes:
~14:32 Stumble
Volume too low (83.9)

Sermon 11 PL Notes:
~5:38 "inestible" for "inestimable"
~20:20 stumble (where our treasure is...)
~20:51 missing chapter ("first Timothy six verse 10)
~22:06 missing chapter ("Matthew five verse 9)
~22:10 missing words and some rearranged: "for they shall be called the children of God." Now if we be given to revenge and strife, if we be lovers of quarrels, do we not show that we are destitute of the love of God"
~24:18 long pause
~26:29 I hear "if now..." instead of "it now..."
At the end, you don't need to say "End of A Selection of the most celebrated sermons of John Calvin, by John Calvin." (that's only for the very last track in this book)
Volume OK!

If you read regulalrly for Librivox, you'll probably have to read a lot of Roman numerals - here's a table if it's helpful.

Once you've made those corrections, you can upload the file again with the same filename as the first time and post in this thread and I'll check them and mark it as PL OK in the file list :)

Sermon 12 PL notes:
~3:28 Long pause
~6:44 Stumble
~18:09 Long pause
~21:11 Long pause
The ending has the booking ending which we don't need ("End of A Selection of the most celebrated sermons of John Calvin, by John Calvin. ")
The volume is too low on this one as well.

Sorry for all the edits. Really appreciate that you've been reading these ones. I enjoyed all 3 of these sermons and several of them feel very contemporary.
