PL OK! Thank you!
For the time being, I'll need a little more time than usual to PL sections that come in on weekdays. Thanks for your patience.

You certainly may! Thank you for claiming! I see you're relatively new to LV, so feel free to ask if you have questions about anything. :)

Thank you! Section 18 sounds great! I appreciate your expressiveness in the characters' dialogue. I've made some PL notes below. Please don't be discouraged - it may look like a lot, but this a normal amount of editing to do for a file of this length. Less editing than normal, even, compared to me (I have to do a ton of re-takes when I record  ).

- At 1:06 "knitting swiftly," it seems that the middle part of "knitting" is cut out.
- At 2:52, "to hear more," you start to say "to her" before correcting yourself.
- At 3:07, "It struck her abruptly," you say "It struck to her abruptly."
- At 5:38, "he put into them," you start to say "he put into those" before correcting yourself.
- At 6:04, after "each had been offered," you leave out the phrase "his smile of kindly appreciation."
- At 9:19, the "He" in "He looked down" is below an audible level.
- At 9:36, "blundering awkwardly," you say "blunderingly awkward."
- At 10:05, "It should have been," you first say "It should be" before correcting it to "have been."
- At 11:31, "saw it in that light," you say "saw it in the light."
- At 11:45, "stick at nothing," you say "stuck at nothing."
- At 13:38, "And in those few words," you leave out "few."
- At 14:42, "upon the mantelpiece," you start to say another word before correcting it to "mantelpiece."
- At 14:45, "Does Love conquer after all?" you say "Does Love conquer all?"

You might already know about this, but just in case, this doesn't mean that you have to record the whole thing all over again! You can record words or phrases and paste them into the original file in Audacity. If you have any questions about editing, feel free to ask me or to post in the Need Help? Got Advice? forum.

Oh, and one more thing that will be easy to fix: the volume is 80.9 dB. After you've edited the file, could you amplify it to somewhere within the target range of 87-92? To amplify, you can go to Effects>Amplify in Audacity.

Abby,

I am going to stick my nose in here. In addition to the above great advice, also, when your are correcting the edits above, it is a lot easier if you start at the back and go toward the front i.e. start with 14:45, then 14:42 and on down. That way the 'time stamps' stay correct. :D

Good luck,

Wayne

Thank you for all of this feedback! I have made the edits, but am now struggling on the amplifying (as I am new to this). When I go to Effects and then Amplify, what should I enter into the Amplification box, or is this something I play around with until I have a volume within the correct range?

Thank you!!

You're welcome! To amplify, you can enter a number that when added to 80.9 would fall within the target range, say, 8. (Don't worry about New Peak Amplitude, and leave Allow Clipping unchecked.) By the way, there are two ways to check the volume: you can download Checker and run the file through it, or you can download the ReplayGain plug-in for Audacity.

Thank you, Wayne, that's a very useful thing to mention that possibly saved Abby a lot of trouble editing!
