State of the Union Addresses by United States Presidents (1923 - 1932) by Calvin Coolidge (1872 - 1933) and others.

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/state-of-the-union-addresses-by-united-states-presidents-1923-1932-by-calvin-coolidge/

Volunteers outside the USA: Herbert Hoover died in 1964. The author's work is still protected by copyright in places like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years), UNLESS the rule of shorter term applies. <p>
The State of the Union address is a speech presented by the President of the United States to a joint session of the United States Congress, typically delivered annually. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows the President to outline his legislative agenda (for which he needs the cooperation of Congress) and national priorities. This album contains recordings of addresses from Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. (Wikipedia)
This is the 18th out of 26 projects. Prior addresses are found here: https://librivox.org/search?q=state%20of%20the%20union&search_form=advanced

Project began June 19, 2016. There have been 47 Readers, 8 MCs and 3 PLers. 144 hours have been cataloged covering 1790-1922.
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5050
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: : Special - Please follow text while PLing. I'm not looking for word perfect. The language is sometimes awkward and following the text will help identify errors which the ear alone may not find. Linny is DPL

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Welcome to LV! here is your catalog page: https://librivox.org/reader/15299

This is a REALLY long section. It should come in just under an hour of completed audio. Let me know if you have any trouble along the way or would rather turn it in for a shorter section. We generally recommend new readers to take on shorter works first until the editing process is more natural. If you get stuck in editing just ask. There are lots of us to help out and give advice. Have fun! :D

Hi Kevin,
Nice job! I'm PLed yesterday but the internet was down most of the day so the notes were delayed.

11:42 – word change - It is estimated that the value of the crops for this harvest year may reach $13,000,000,000, which is an increase of over $3,000,000,000 in three years.

29:41 - Repeat – I should not wish to propose or have representatives attend a conference which would contemplate commitments opposed to the freedom of action we desire to maintain unimpaired with respect to our purely domestic policies.

Corrections made. I'm sorry I couldn't get the replacement sentence to fit in with the previous 'tone.'

https://librivox.org/uploads/linny/stateoftheunion_1923_1932_02_various_128kb.mp3 (46:40)

The corrections are at 11:34 and 41:35.

It isn't a jarring change to my ear. Thank you for the quick turnaround. Spot check PL OK. I'm sorry about the timestamp on the second correction.

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
