Sadly, the message immediately before yours claimed them. Are there other sections that might be of interest?

dltrial wrote: January 20th, 2021, 6:06 pm I have been looking at sections 66 - 68 and since I am not knowledgeable about middle English, and I see no reason to make things hard on listeners, I am planning on pronouncing most words in a modern fashion (most words seem to be odd phonetic spellings which correspond to pronunciations not much different to modern ones anyway).

That mostly leaves archaic words such as yede and merveill which I will do my best with, although I have thought about just reading 'marvel'.

Any objections?
That sounds like the best policy. It'll be a pretty challenging read!

The last two paragraphs are not part of the story. Should I read those as well ?
Section 71 is assigned to you. Please do read those paragraphs - although not narrative, the whole section is a commentary on section 24.

SkyRider wrote: January 6th, 2021, 9:02 am Thanks, Lynda. Could I ask you to correct the following, please?

Section 41
7:10 "eight and thirty giblets" should be "eight and thirty gibbets" - https://www.howtopronounce.com/gibbet

Section 65
1:09 "wife and sorts" should be "wife and sons"
1:15 "his further martyrdom" should be "his future martyrdom"
(Optional extra) 4:35 mss is fine, but if you ever want to expand the abbreviation, it stands for "manuscripts"

Section 70 PL OK

Cheers,
Paul
Here are my fixes for the above two sections -
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/thousandnightsandanight12_41_anonymous_128kb.mp3 - 8:57
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/thousandnightsandanight12_65_anonymous_128kb.mp3 - 5:09

Sorry for the delay -

I am sorry to have wasted your time. I think you are right; I must have uploaded the original file and deleted the edited file.

Hopefully this one is much better.

Thanks for this. I really like the timbre of your voice - you're very easy to listen to.

I'm afraid there are a number of corrections though.

Technical issues:
The file is too quiet and needs amplifying by 4.4dB. You only have the headroom to boost it by about 1dB without clipping so will need to compress it, but only slightly to clip the peaks.
We ask that you put 0.5-1s of silence at the start and 5s of silence at the end - could you put a little padding in, please?

Content issues:
1:16 "she was called this youth" should be "she called this youth"
1:37 "I shall be happily to comply" should be "I shall be happy to comply"
4:17 Repeated word "the narcissus is is in the garden"
5:47 Heavy stumble over "incivility"
9:55 "she causes him (pause) head" should be "she causes his head"
10:12 Repeated word "grace"
10:25 "exhorted by (pause) exhorted to" please remove the "exhorted by"
11:04 "is in fabliau" should be "in the fabliau"
11:30 "lest she" should be "lest he"
13:18 "the gr...best" - I'm guessing that was about to be "greatest" but know it's just a stumble that should be removed.
13:48 "and three women find a diamond..." several errors in this sentence - no and at start, missing "as" in "as in the fabliau", "concerts" should be concocts", "difference" should be "different"
14:12 "Francis Richard Burton" should be "Richard Francis Burton".

One tip for future readings (though I suspect it's a little late for this time around) is to see if the software you're using to record has any form of "punch and roll" functionality. In addition to the above, there were many minor stumbles as if you realised you'd tripped up and weren't sure what to do then carried on. Punch and roll would allow you to immediately record over the error and move on.

For example, if you're using Audacity (as many round here do), position the cursor just before the slip and press Shift-D. Audacity will play the audio for a few seconds beforehand so you can get the pacing right then carry on recording from where you placed the cursor.
