My Danish Sweetheart Vol. 2 by William Clark Russell (1844 - 1911).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/my-danish-sweetheart-vol-2-by-william-clark-russell/

Volume 2 begins as our hero winds up his story. But the question remains, what happened to the other boat? Hugh and Helga have been picked up by a small boat, which is, apparently, headed for Australia against all seafaring wisdom. Too far from the coast to backtrack, the couple set out on an unanticipated journey. ( )
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/41314
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Lynett

It's been quite a while since I was accepted as a reader for LibriVox, so it is about time I was taken to task.

I'm happy to read the whole of this book if you'd like me too.

As this is my first read for LibriVox, I'd like to use my legal name of Jan S Simonsen (yes, I'm of a Danish father).

Regards

Jan

Welcome!
As it's your first adventure in recording, I'd recommend just sticking to one section for now. If all goes well, you can claim more later. In volume 1, some readers had a hard time with the language (much was in Cornish dialect).

Be sure to read the first post and ask if you have questions.

UPDATE:

Hi, just an update for you. I've not been making any progress yet as I've been ill. However, I'm well on the way to recovery now, and will start recording at the beginning of January.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell. This project is slow-moving, so there is no hurry. Concentrate on getting well, and I'll give you an extension 8-)

Chapter 5
he volume is too low at 83dB. Please amplify by about 6dB. You will probably find you can't do this due to peaks, so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3lOTDsN6c

There are several mic bumps throughout the recording. No need to edit, but be aware of them in future recordings.

Well done with the Cornish vernacular! It is particularly difficult to master
