Heriot's Choice by Rosa Nouchette Carey (1840 - 1909).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/heriots-choice-by-rosa-nouchette-carey/
Mildred wants to start her full life at the age of 28. She is looking forward to it until her brother asks her to come help in his home and care for his children. She has to take the role of "Aunt Milly", the almost happy and contented care taker. She meets Heriot, a woman doctor, who has her own ward. It remains for you to see how these women would influence each other. The book examans the role of a woman in society, and asks who is the strong woman? Is she the feminist or the ordinary? Would she be happy? ( Stav Nisser.)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35901
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Magic window is now ready and we are open for claims. Next time, would you be able to post when you set up the mw? Something like: "window is now up for you to fill in"?

Oh, I'm sorry, Stav. I didn't realize that's what you were waiting for. It generally only takes me about 5-10 minutes to get the MW ready. So sometimes it feels superfluous to me to come back after just a few minutes to say, "ok, it's ready." However, if that is helpful for you, I'll try to remember to do so for any projects I pick up for you in the future.

Let's hang out here in the Launch Pad for another day or so. We still might be able to get a DPL if we're lucky.

Hi Miss Stav -

Can I please read 1, 11, 13, 15 and 36?

Also, I took a peek at the text and the Chapters are between 4500 and 5500 words in case anyone wants to know.

Hello Sarah, welcome to Librivox. I hope you will enjoy here. Chapters 3-5 are all yours. Just let me know under which name you would like to be credited in the catalogue. It can be your real name, your forum name, or something else that you choose.

Thank you! I would prefer to go by my username, Kaitybg7, if you would be okay with that. I actually mistyped my initial post. If it isn't too much trouble, could I possibly have Chapter 2 as well? Thank you so much.
