I realize no one needs to hear my woes, but can I vent to you all?

My analog mic stopped working. I have a backup, and it didn't work either. Diagnostics could find nothing wrong; eventually I deduced that it must be the pre-amp circuit that has failed. Then it was family visit time.

My daughter-in-law brought to me, for the holiday, two USB microphones and two web cameras. I tested each, and one of them records with a clearly superior quality, so tonight I finally recorded the chapter.

Having no sound-proof studio, I must either turn off the furnace or time my sessions between heating. I can put up with excess heat, but cold not so much, so you can guess which I choose.

Tonight, the cats were especially full of spit and vinegar -- but only when I was reading. When I paused to wait for the furnace to turn off, they were peaceful and quiet.

(Also, when I rehearsed it yesterday, without recording -- again, no excess feline shenanigans. Little jerks.)

Anyway...the raw version of 9 is done. Won't be too long now.

It has some sharper sibilants than I'd like, and if anyone has some tips for clearing those up (I mean, apart from diction lessons), I'd like to learn them.

For once, some appropriate cat sounds would have been appreciated, and nobody cooperated.

Once this one is cleared, I'm ready to take on any chapter you want to assign to me.
