adding you as DPL
I don't think you have had access to the MW before so
here are some links to show how to access the MW the first time, Some of the information about what to do is usually done by the BC but if you know you can always help if the BC needs to take some time off for some reason which is a good thing but the DPL does usually update the PL information in the MW.
Now that you are a soloist , you will be your own BC (book coordinator). That means that you will enter the links to your recordings into the Magic Window (MW) (the scrolling window in the first post). Here is a document that explains how to get into the MW the first time:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxWB83bbALTQYjlENGZ0SVJUWWs
And here is another document that explains how to keep the MW up to date etc:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kVj409nG_E0XJ5UrrcL7EVx7Qyx-2UQ7dbw4mINi3XQ
Remember you can always ask questions one of us will try to answer or try to find someone else who can answer it.

This project looks like fun. I'd like to volunteer.
I've tested myself out on a few voices, and I think I can handle keeping them straight. By your leave, I'd like to try my hand. Have you no one in mind for chapters 2 and 3?

I will assign these sections to you. How would you like to be listed in the LV catalog? You can use your forum name or real name or any other.
Thanks for volunteering and welcome aboard. I am a relative newbie too and really enjoying it,
M
Welcome aboard. Someone else has already claimed section 2 (and 3) but I can give you section 4 if you would like. You need to complete the 1 minute test first to verify your sound settings are correct. Information on the 1 minute test can be found here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test.

Volunteering for LibriVox is a rewarding experience and I have found it a lot of fun in the ~4 months I have been here.
Thanks,
M
I don't mind ceding section 2 to EMHanel if they have their heart set on it. I can take section 3 and we can go from there.
I plan on using my real name (John Payton) in the recordings. As for the catalog, I have little preference - whichever makes it easier later. I don't know how these things are usually done.
I've already taken the 1 minute test and checked it myself, but do you mean I would need to send it in to somebody else to verify first?mleigh wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 9:17 am You need to complete the 1 minute test first to verify your sound settings are correct. Go ahead and upload your test, and post a link as a new thread here: viewforum.php?f=21
I went through the same thing. Someone who has been doing this a while caught a couple of things that I wasn't aware of.
BTW, I've recorded chapter 3, and am currently cleaning it up.

I have been working from my phone and so it has been a little difficult for me to work, but yes he does have chapters 2 and 3. I'll try to update now.
