I'm up to 67 minutes for Ch. 18 and with two pages left to record. I imagine with all my mistakes, I'll be able to edit everything down to 70 minutes or less. (Considering all my mistakes, it may come in at far less!)

Recording's done! Tomorrow the edit! (God willing.) I came in at 1:15.22, but that will get pared down a good deal.

I assume this project will take a bit. I hope to do at least another chapter.

It's funny what one's memory can do. Half way through I remembered my father pronouncing Bien Hoa. I had to go back and correct all my earlier mispronunciations.

Did your dad talk about his time in Vietnam much?

It looks like Biên Hòa can be pronounced two ways.

He very rarely talked about combat. He shared, common to soldiers, the funny stories of what he encountered. He talked about one incursion on the edge of Saigon and I was asked to observe. Two blocks from the bullet fire, Vietnamese were selling soldiers hot dogs. True story.

Yes, there is a distinct accent for North and South.
