Thanks for all your hard work. Section 24 is now PLOK
Wayne, I just found that the Sec 24 "listen" link in the MW points to the recording for Sec 29.

Cheers,

Mark,

First of all I have NO idea how the above happened!! I really must have been 'asleep at the switch' when I did that. I am so glad you caught that.

Now as to Chapter 29, it is PLOK .

One little thing, not worth fixing, but something to watch in the future, you are a little short on the five second ending silence.

I have listened to many of these, and I think the content in this one is sooo interesting and insightful. Also, some of his writings seem a little convoluted and hard to follow, but this one was very understandable and he had great, great points well set out. And your reading of it also made it easy to follow. Thank you.

Agree about the content. Having grown up in Boston, these Revolutionary era events that occurred here still fascinate me. Check out the book "The Boston Massacre - A Family History" by Serena Zabin. It gives an account of the Massacre and subsequent trials through the eyes of the inhabitants as well as the soldiers who lived in Boston at the time.

Absolutely Mark. I'm sorry for the delay! I thought I had already replied but the MW isn't updated and I don't see the reply. I'm sorry for the concern.

Hello Linny,

In section 71 of The Writings of Samuel Adams, Volume 2 by Samuel Adams (1722 - 1803), there is the phrase;

“For as the Superr Court is to be held at Salem next Week”

The word “Superr” is also found in section 73. That section has not yet been claimed so no help there.

Each usage indicates this was not a standing court in Salem but one that met there on occasion.

I have checked each of the files available at https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2092 and they all have the same spelling.

And though I would never read from them, I’m a rule follower :) ,I did check some third party sites including;

https://www.originalsources.com/Document.aspx?DocID=S1KINQPFV7QDFAI

but each of the third party sites had the exact same wording and spelling.

So I checked each time the word court was used throughout the entire collection for a clue.

In the entire collection the word court is used 208 times.

The closest usage that might lend a clue is “Superior Court” which is used 26 times and "superior bench" which is used 4 times.

Here’s an example form section 3.

That with deep Concern they are made to understand that thro the
Providence of God diverse of his Majestys Justices of the Superior
Court are renderd unable to attend the Duties of their important Trust
by bodily Indisposition.

The word supreme is used 44 times but only once as “Supreme Court.”

That reference is found in Section 32.

TO ARTHUR LEE.

BOSTON April 19 1771.

The 4 Judges of the Supreme Court, the Secretary & the Kings Attourny who had been Councellors were left out at the annual Election in 1766;

I did some Google research but that didn't shed any particular light on this word or abbreviation.

So, how would you prefer I read the word “Superr.”

Superior or Supreme or something else?

Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance.

I would use "Superior", with with all things LV, use your best choice and say it like you mean it.

Mark,

Another perfect reading. Section 26 PLOK  .

One interesting thing, though. On Section 29 I mentioned that you were a little short on the five seconds at the end. Not enough to do anything with, but to look at it in the future. In Section 26, you were a little long on the five seconds, but again, nothing to edit on this recording. Split the difference and all will be well

Thanks,

Wayne

Thank you, both!

Wayne, I generally call out ending silence for less than 3.5 seconds and more than 6.5 seconds. Really short files I hold to a tighter 5 second tolerance since 6.5 seconds can sound REALLY long to the listener for a 30 second poem.

Michele,

First we will go to Section 33. There are a few things that should be looked at.

:28 In the House of Representatives April 24 1771 You left of “71” of “1771”

:36.5 of Great Barrington Capt Brown & Capt Darby You added “the” between "of" and "Great". Great Barrington is a place.

:56.5 to both Houses at the Opening of this Session. You said season.

1:45 the publick Tranquility of his Majestys Dominions[/i] Left off word Dominions.

2:33.5 the Enlargement as well as the Support of those Dominions: Cut off end of “dominions”

2:36.5 And when our natural & constitutional Rights & Liberties, Cut off end of 'Liberties”.

2:40 without which no Blessing can be secure to us, End of phrase cut off.

4:10 , & the best Interest of this People End of phrase cut off.

4:55.5 while you shall maintain its fundamental Laws, You said "law". I think it should probably be corrected.

5:22.5 On April 3 the House had appointed a committee Phrase cut off.

5:30 Adams was a member of each of these committees. Phrase cut off.

Maybe one more 'run-through' to catch these kind of major errors?

Section 65 PLOK  Right out of the box.

Section 67: One minor error:

:50 an original draft in the autograph click, click This a duplicate you forgot to cut when editing.

Struggled a little on 33, but great job on 65 and 67.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Wayne
