Andrea,

Welcome to Librivox.

Just a little note. The way the system works is that you find a reading you would like to do (like Section 89) and you then post here the request "claim" that section. Then the BC (Book Coordinator) sees your 'request' and then gives it to you, and then you record. The reason for this is to make sure that someone doesn't go ahead and record something which had already been awarded to someone else, and all that just 'crossed in the mail'. So, I have PLed your section, and am waiting for Linny to chime in and award it to you before I put it in the MW. But just FYI, the recording itself was well done, however, the standards for Librivox is that the 'silent' space at the beginning of the recording should be between .5 and 1 second. Yours is slightly less than .1 second, and also the silence at the end should be very close to five seconds. Yours is about 17 seconds. So go in and fix those, and then we will wait for Linny to give her OK.

Good work, and I am looking forward to hearing more.

Thank you so much for the clarification and feedback! It helps tremendously! Will keep that in mind going forward & will fix the beginning to add .5-1 sec. of silence :D :D

Oops I also just noticed I said "recordings" instead of "writings" of Samuel Adams too. I will have to fix that as well!

You have such an interesting job!

Here is your catalog page: https://librivox.org/reader/16244

The reader section details link is a great way to keep track of your claims.

Please remember to post your file duration whenever you post a link. It helps the DPL know how long to set aside for PLing and it is a double check for the MC during the catalog process.

Since you are familiar with the text and only if you are interested I would appreciate any suggestions you have on the summary and keywords. The soloist didn't complete them and I'm not very familiar with the text. I'm waiting for the audiobook.

I would love to have you join us. Before you do please post your sound check (preliminary test) to ensure your settings are correct for LV. You will find the information you need in the first post. There is a link titled "newbie guide to recording".

Andrea,

Now that Linny has you all set up, you can go ahead and make the very minor and easy corrections to your recording.

The recording was well done, however, the standards for Librivox is that the 'silent' space at the beginning of the recording should be between .5 and 1 second. Yours is slightly less than .1 second, and also the silence at the end should be very close to five seconds. Yours is about 17 seconds.

So, just correct those small items and repost it here, and I will give it a very quick 'spot-PL' and I am sure you will have this one in the books. I am looking forward to "6". One of my majors in College was History and that is one of the reasons I offered to DPL this book. My area of emphasis was 1763-1789 Colonial America. And about a year and a half a go I, along with my wife, daughter and son-in-law and their (at the time) 13 kids got to walk the Freedom Trail. It was an amazing experience. Along with touring Philly and D.C. A once in a lifetime event.

Beau,

First, let me say that I was pleasantly surprised with your voice. It very enjoyable to listen to.

In your each of your recordings, there were a couple of things that came up that you will need to fix.

First, these instructions in the first post,: "Say: "The Writings of Samuel Adams, Volume 2, by Samuel Adams. [Section title]" don't mean to say the word "Section" and then the title, but just to say the title of the Section. So just delete that in each of your selections, then make sure to make the 'empty' space that will be there after the deletions is of an appropriate length.

Also, in each of the sections you again say to whom the 'letter' is written a second time. Just make sure to only say what is in the text.

Now to a couple of minor things that should be looked at in particular Sections.

Section 62:

1:45.5 such an imperious tone You said impervious

Section 71:

2:57 Look at the word equivocally again. No “b”

3:34.5 use your Influence with Salem & other Towns You added 'the' between “&” and “other”

Other than those small errors, they were great. Just correct them and you will be PLOK.

I can take Sections 10 & 11 if they're still open.
