Hi there,

May I claim section 3? I don't have quite the connection that Fritz has, but my wife *was* born in Anchorage.

Thanks,

Wayne

P.S. I really appreciate LV for two reasons. It gives me an opportunity to do something I have wanted to do for decades (narrate books for others), and also lets me read books that I would have never had to opportunity to read. Learn things I never would have known and 'experience' things I never would have experienced. Thank you Librivox. :9:

That was fun!

May I claim sections 10, 12 and 13 please?

Wayne

P.S. As I read through these, there is an interesting combination of Eskimo and Russian names. The 'Romanization' of the Cyrillic was very 'creative'. A lot different from the ones used today.

10, 12, 13 assigned! Thank you, Wayne! Is this kind of romanization easier to read than today's? If so, I wonder why they changed it! :hmm:

About the 'Romanization'. I *think* the modern is better. But I do remember when I was studying Russian that sometimes I would have to look at the Cyrillic to try and figure out how to say it, but I think the ones in this book are even a little harder to figure out. But then, maybe they (the writers of the 19th century) would think ours are weird.
