20 & 7 for PL:

Section 7:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/naturalhistoryvolume6_07_128kb.mp3 30:46

Section 20, for spot PL, edited at 14:30 to add line:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/naturalhistoryvolume6_20_128kb.mp3 34:01

Hi Rapunzelina,
Well, the line is already in the file at 14:30. I think I edited it after Leni replied, but before you did. (I am sharing my electronics and internet connection at the moment and not online all the time.)
I tried to catch the cadence of Sam's voice by reading along with her, but I think our recording environments are just too different.
I can try again, if you have suggestions, or you are welcome to use someone else. It was fun to try :)
Marya

If you still need someone to read that line in section #20 about slugs I am available (if you think my voice would match :)

Yes, thanks for offering. I think if you recorded the line missing in section 20 it would be fine! :D
I still have the file from when I edited it, so I can add in the new phrase. I suggest recording the whole sentence, from . to . (or ; to ; whichever it is in that part) :)

Thanks much, Marya!

ETA: Section 20 is PL OK. I think the difference is there, one cannot avoid it, but it is not worse than it might have been if the original reader had done it. Thanks!

Hi Leni-
How long are the chapters, usually for this work? I could lay claim on Chapters 3, 17 if needed..

Hello, Dave! I am aimed for 30 minutes on average when I cut the sections. :) I will assign them to you, if that is ok. :)

Thanks.

Sure! Thanks for claiming!
Hi Leni,

Sorry, I am unable to get to this anytime soon. Can you please un-assign this section and open it up for others?

Thank you.
Have a great day!

I've uploaded section 16 there. Audacity kept crashing and I haven't been able to get it to work on my computer so I'm was not able to put it through a noise reduction. I believe its at the standard bitrate 0f 128 but if not, I may be able to convert it. Let me know if it needs any work.

Hello, Roxane!

Indeed, there is a high level of background noise. However, that is not the only technical issue. The file is in stereo, and it should be mono, and it is not in 128, but 320kbps. As about Audacity crashing, maybe you could post in the Need Help forum, describing the issue, and people could help you out? It is frustrating when this kind of thing happens - I know, I have had my share of Audacity problems, but we have many tech savvy people around that could help you. :)

Okay! I think I figured it out  I changed the bit rate to 128 and put it through the noise canceller and it should be in mono -- fingers crossed!

Hi! I can't commit to DPL, but I have no files this morning from my list, so I'm pulling Section 7 to proof.

Section 7 is PL OK

You read very nicely, Marya! This book is rather interesting, too. Makes you feel like finding out what helpful plants you can grow in your yard, and then cracks you up with chanting about wolves who want your blood. . .

I have a thought for future recordings - your decibels are on the lower range that LibriVox uses, and a little more volume would be helpful for a lot of listeners. If you haven't already done so, it might be nice if your recording volume is bumped up a smidge. :)
