Solario the Tailor by William Bowen (1877 - 1937).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/solario-the-tailor-by-william-bowen/

Told over six nights, this children's fantasy has all the elements of a good bedtime story: princes and princesses, unicorns, sorcerers and mysteries such as a missing button. The stories are related by Solario, the aged tailor and master storyteller. Although it was written for children, it tells of the harsh brutality of life and may not be suitable for younger children. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/60162
Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Welcome! I have added you to the catalog of readers and assigned the introduction (we usually say introduction or preface rather than chapter 0)

Please be sure to read the first post but if you have questions, please ask.

Hey, I did the thing!

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/solariothetailor_00_bowen_128kb.mp3 3:15

I'm super new, as you can probably tell, so I hope I did ok. I'd like to be credited as Kate Mileur, and I guess you can direct people to my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/esperlydia/ :D

Can i go ahead and claim Section 10, also? I think it would be super cool to begin and end a book. Also, what does 1/5 mean in the notes by my name?

Thanks for everything!

Thank you and congratulations on your first recording  please check back for any PL (proof listening) notes.
I will edit your catalog entry. You can check it by clicking on your name in the Magic Window.
1/5 by your name is the date of your claim (US format). You get 2 months from the date of claim to submit your file and that’s just a way of showing when the clock starts ticking  That said, if you find you are getting close to that deadline and have unexpected houseguests or lose your voice or something, just post in the thread of the project concerned requesting an extension. It’s up to the BC (book coordinator) but usually there is no problem.

What the Gutenberg link takes me to, at http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/61028 , is:

"The Perfect World: A romance of strange people and strange places by Scrymsour"

Very strange.

Thanks, Todd
