I'd like to claim Section 11. Anita
uh-oh. The MW has section 11 the Blue-green areas, but the book has this as chapter 10. When recording, should I say Chapter 10? Anita

Take a look at the first posting. You say SECTION (11) at the beginning of the recording - cuz the sections and chapters don't match up - and then CHAPTER (10) at the end of the introduction as you start reading the text.

Thanks, Todd

I've been holding back for very long becaus... well, misinformation.

However, I'm ready to read 24 - The Canals Photographed which appears to be the most true of all the chapters, after a brief skimming. And this little gem, which tells you exactly what kind of "scientist" Mr. Lowell was:
...the images [of 1903] more clear-cut but still incommunicable of canals.
... because obviously, there were none.
Cheers,
Ava.

Thank you. I started this after reading for "100 Reasons Why The Earth is Flat". Fools and charlatans and simply mis-guided people seem always to be with us....

I see you have your 1 minute test posted. I will hold section 14 for you until that is reviewed.

Thank you, and welcome to Librivox.

Hi! This isn't in the MW yet, but I thought I'd take a quick listen.

Sorry to say that there is something terribly wrong with this recording as submitted.
There is terrific distortion with severe clipping and entire words and parts of words are cut off so the it is not even intelligible. Pleas listen to this! It is possible there was an error in uploading, so if it sound fine to you, you can try uploading again. It is completely unusable as it is, so I don't know what went wrong.

Maybe Todd can take a listen and give an opinion.

Hello Silverquill,

I saw your reply and I think I probably did the whole process of cleaning again or putting it through Mp3 Gain twice so maybe that's what you're hearing.

I can definitely re-record if it is unusable or unlistenable at this point.

Hope you are staying safe and thank you for letting me know what's wrong!

Sincerely,

Micfairy252!

Hmm. If you use Replay Gain, use it only to analyze the file to give you the volume. Don't use any other feature of it. If you need to adjust the volume up or down, use the Amplify feature in Audacity to do that. Set it for either a positive or negative value as indicated.

Do you have the original recording?

It is a good idea to save those, at least for awhile.
I always save my raw recording under something like: BOOK_TITLE_01 and then when I edit it, I save it under the format used for submission. That way, if I have an issue, I can at least go back to my original recording. I might have to edit again, but at least don't have to record again. Just a little safety valve.

Anyway, let me know if there is any other way I can help.
~Larry
